Kelham and Neepsend have today made an application to designate a neighbourhood area and neighbourhood forum.
This would allow the community to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan, allowing them to establish a strategy for the future growth of land in Kelham Island and Neepsend.
The Kelham Island and Neepsend Neighbourhood Forum would be the group responsible for producing the Neighbourhood Development Plan.
The application can be viewed either at First Point, Howden House, Union Street in the city centre, or at the Central Library, Surrey Street.
Comments regarding the application can be submitted to the council up until 9 January 2019.
Kelham Island and Neepsend are not covered by a Town or Parish Council. The neighbourhood Forum acts in lieu of the council.
In their proposal, the Kelham Island and Neepsend Neighbourhood Forum said “KINNF will pursue its objectives in the areas known as Kelham Island and Neepsend Neighbourhood Area for the benefit of those who live and work in the area, including business operators, institutions, properly constituted community and voluntary groups and individual residents.”
The decision will be made once the period devoted to public comments has passed.
