A defibrillator has been installed in Kelham Island and Neepsend, as part of ongoing efforts to bring infrastructure to those living in the area.
The life-saving device was paid for by a Council Ward Pot Fund grant. The claim was supported by local councillors, as well as a partnership between Kelham Island and Neepsend Community Alliance (KINCA) and the Kelham Island Industrial Museum.
The defibrillator has been put onto the side of the Globe Steel Works, Alma Street, which are currently occupied by AW. Tools Ltd.
AMS Electrical of Burton Road, Neepsend, installed the device as a gift to the community. The staff at the Kelham Island Industrial Museum will be responsible for maintaining it.
KINCA are also responsible for Green Kelham, a movement to maintain the green spaces in Kelham Island and Neepsend, which is a predominantly industrial area. Kelham Island last week was voted the best neighbourhood in the UK.
