An urban axe throwing company is opening its doors at the end of the month.

Battle Axe will be situated at The Paint Factory in Kelham and opens on 30 November.

They are hosting an open day on 1 December from 11am-3pm for people to meet the team and see what it’s all about.

Scott Thornton from Battle Axe said: “We love the vibe, togetherness, and the community spirit of what Kelham Island and the surrounding areas have to offer.

“Everyone that we have had the pleasure of meeting has been very supportive and welcoming towards us.”

The venue offers 90-minute sessions with three throwing lanes and two targets on each.

In a planning application submitted to the council last July, Battle Axe said: “The centre would compliment the area and be a focal point for people’s activities before heading off to the Kelham Island area.”

They will tackle the problem of parking in Kelham by giving customers who walk there a chance to win a T-shirt or gift card.

Axe throwing started gaining traction as a social sport in the U.S last year and has since moved to the UK.

Battle Axe will be the second axe- throwing centre in Sheffield after Valhalla opened in Heely last June.
