Burngreave Foodbank, located on Spital Hill, will hold a collection at the end of the month in time for the busy Christmas period.

Long-life foods such as tinned goods, pasta and rice, and toiletries will be welcomed for those in the community who need a helping hand the most.

The foodbank was founded in 2012, and is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by The Trussell Trust.

Recent statistics highlighted the pressure foodbanks are facing due to the five-week wait for the Universal Credit benefit. Although Burngreave Foodbank is yet to experience the outcome of the issues with the new benefit scheme, donations are crucial due to the hectic time of year.

If you’d like to donate, you can do so by heading to Tesco Extra on Savile Street or Tesco Metro on Ecclesall Road, on Thursday 29th November, Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December. Donations will be welcomed from 9:00am until 5:00pm on each of these days.
